The Music of Ornamental Concrete

Richmond Kentucky's Ornamental Concrete has a wide range of influences. Many of it's members, including songwriter and frontman, Darren Fielder, even obtained degrees in music. Their sound is reminiscent of early 70's roots rock with varying blends of Americana, Brit-pop, and experimental electronics thrown around for good measure. Darren's lyrics make each song a research paper for the human condition. Love, loss, faith, frustration, intricately woven with both metaphores and an unabashful honesty. They dare you not to relate.

A Brief History

In 1996 the band released it's first LP,Last Exit which saw decent radio play despite it's ultra low budget and poor production quality. After only two months, the band pulled the album from circulation and stopped appearing live.
O.C. re-emerged in 1997 with a line-up change and another self produced LP entitled Non-Fader Current. The band continued to perform in an "on again, off again" manner for the next several years. 2000 brought a stunning live performance from Wakefire Studios for Lexington radio station z103.3. A full studio album was started shortly after but the results were not turning out as the guys had hoped. After only 20 hours of studio time logged,The Magic Art of the Great Humbug was shelved indefinitely. Not long after, the band once again stopped appearing live. In 2003 Darren released his first solo album, Generator. Later that year, Ornamental Concrete reformed, and work began on The Revenge of O.C. which is due to be released sometime around May of 2004.

What am I suppose to say except you’ve got me wrong.
How many times did I try explain but you never went along.
Hold your judgements till the end, leave me out of your routine.
Until I put myself back on again, take me off your radar screen.
